How to build a private corporate blockchain on Hyperledger Fabric

How to build a private corporate blockchain on Hyperledger Fabric is one of several classes that will be conducted at BDT SuperSummit. The complete list of classes is available here. To register for one or more of the classes and for the conference itself, visit this Eventbrite page.

Description
Hyperledger is a project of the Linux Foundation that develops open source blockchains and tools needed to work with them. Hyperledger Fabric is one of those blockchains from the project that’s used to build permissioned blockchain networks. In this class, you will learn how to clearly formulate the requirements of an Hyperledger Fabric blockchain to your PoC/MVP engineers by:

  • Clarifying the structure of data sets recorded in the distributed ledger(s): how your ledger is supposed to look like.
  • Defining the process flow (blueprint) of your future blockchain platform.
  • Describing business logic that can be implemented in Smart contracts.
  • Defining requirements for user interface (API).

You will also learn:

  • The essentials of public and private blockchains.
  • How to design architecture and deploy a private blockchain network.
  • About Smart Contracts, how they work on Hyperledger Fabric and how they are applied in popular use cases and various business functions.
  • The architecture of Hyperledger Fabric 1.0
  • Consensus on the data stored in the distributed ledger
  • Functions of the network participants and elements; how they interact
  • Information flow (transaction processing) on the blockchain

Class Outline

Introduction

  • Introduction to the blockchain technology.
  • Public and permissioned blockchains.

Overview of Hyperledger

  • An overview of the Hyperledger Project and its frameworks for business: Indy, Iroha, and Sawtooth.
  • The architecture of Hyperledger Fabric. The network participants and components.
  • Transaction flow on HL-Fabric: unique consensus mechanism and smart contracts functioning.
  • Use cases overview: finance, investments, syndicated loans, insurance, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, supply chain management, customer reward systems, shared services.

How it works: Demo

Examples of real solutions developed by Altoros (PoC):

  • (Re)insurance platform.
  • A corporate bond issuing and trading platform.
  • Supply chain for Automotive industry: spare parts provenance.
  • Over-The-Counter trading platform: inter-bank overnight deposits.

Workshop – Hands-on (optional)

  • Test network deployment and transactions processing: local and multi-server mode with Kafka-Oderer used in production.
  • Use Hyperledger Composer to create the first blockchain application for your business case.
  • How to monitor performance of your corporate blockchain with Hyperledger Caliper and how to troubleshoot the network.

Requirements

To complete the optional, hands-on part of this training, you’ll need a laptop with the following installed. Others will watch on the screen as the instructors walk through the demo(s):

  • Ubuntu 16.04.
  • Docker.
  • Docker Compose.

At the end of this training, participants will receive a certificate of completion demonstrating their practical skills and knowledge of blockchain technology and Hyperledger Fabric.
